Technically Superior
Partnering with research laboratories of the most innovative raw material suppliers in the coatings industry, the chemists of The Coatings Alliance use state of the art raw materials and technology to develop paints that exceed industry standards. Our focus on performance rather than cost permits us to use specific resins and combinations of materials that offer outstanding performance. We use the maximum possible amount of hiding pigments, coupled with engineered rheology to provide products with excellent application properties and terrific coverage. Our continued investment in research and development guarantees that we will stay at the top of the performance curve.
The C2 Palette
Our paint colors were created by a team of designers, colorists and paint professionals, one color at a time. Our palette includes formulations of the most popular colors, as well as on-trend forecast shades
C2′s European Colorant System
Our advanced 16 colorant tinting system uses colorants that are high in strength and opacity, giving C2 paints the best hiding power in the industry. This also makes our paints the most light-fast and fade-resistant. Our colorants allow us to create hues of unmatched complexity and sophistication.
LEED Rating System
What is LEED?
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System encourages global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria.
LEED is a third-party certification program and the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED gives building owners and operators the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their buildings’ performance. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
How is LEED Developed?
LEED Rating Systems are developed through an open, consensus-based process led by LEED committees. Each volunteer committee is composed of a diverse group of practitioners and experts representing a cross-section of the building and construction industry. The key elements of USGBC’s consensus process include a balanced and transparent committee structure, technical advisory groups that ensure scientific consistency and rigor, opportunities for stake holder comment and review, member ballot of the new rating systems, and a fair and open appeals process.
How are LEEDs points earned?
The LEED Ratings Systems include LEED for New Construction, LEED for Existing Buildings, LEED for Commercial Interiors, LEED for Core and Shell, and other construction categories. Each LEED Rating System allows projects to earn points for green and sustainable development practices such as Brownfield redevelopment, erosion and sedimentation control, water efficiency, optimizing building energy performance, using low-emitting paints and coatings, and many others. For basic LEED certification, a project earns between 26-32 points. Depending on the project LEED points can achieve Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum status.
Paint and Coatings
EQ Credit 4: Low Emitting Materials 1-4 Points
Intent: Reduce the quantity of indoor air contaminants that are odorous and/or harmful to the comfort and well-being of installers and occupants. Points are awarded for each of the following;
- Adhesives and sealants (1 point)
- Paints and Coatings (1 point)
- Flooring Systems (1 point)
- Composite wood products (1 point)
- Furniture and Finishes (1 point)
- Ceiling and Wall Systems (1 point)
Indoor Environmental Quality Credit 4.2 pivots on the goal of reducing the quantity of volatile organic compounds (VOVs). This LEED credit hinges on VOC content limits for architectural paints, coatings and primers applied to interior walls and ceilings established by Green Seal GS-11 Paints Standard. This standard was recently revised and significantly lowered VOC requirements.
- Interior flat paints less than 50 grams per liter (D6886 test verification
- Interior non-flat paints less than 100 grams per liter (D6886 test verification)
- Interior primers less than 100 grams per liter (D6886 test verification)
